Man, oh man. Is anyone else feeling like they are in the THICK of fall? We have been busy, busy, busy. I have a bunch of errands to run tomorrow, but I am truly excited to have some time tomorrow evening to just veg out.
Going forward, instead of sharing articles from around the internet for Freestyle Friday, I am going to literally freestyle each Friday post.
Each entry will be minimally edited and will focus on one subject.
In today’s post I wanted to share a bit of information about Anti-Inflammatory Diets and share some fun items I am currently coveting.
So, what is an anti-inflammatory diet?
I’m sure you’ve heard that term a lot recently, since it is all the buzz in the wellness world.
Inflammation is the root cause to a lot of the health problems we face such as weight gain, depression, anxiety, muscle aches and pains, arthritis, headaches, even cancer and heart disease. I know what you’re thinking, you probably want to know whether you can just take an anti-inflammatory such as Tylenol to relieve this and obviously the answer is no (taking too much Tylenol, Advil, etc. damages the lining of your stomach, it should be taking sparingly, if at all). Inflammation is actually caused by poor diet choices and chronic stress.
For the past couple of years, I have had hip/IT band/knee pain and soreness. Now, I do have a sedentary lifestyle since at least 50 of my waking hours are spent at a desk and another 50 of my sleeping hours are spent laying horizontal. But I have been doing all that I can to heal this pain to no avail.
I can’t quit my job and I can’t not sleep, so I have been trying to balance and heal this by doing lots of yoga, rolling out my muscles on a therapy ball, taking lots of magnesium baths…you name it, I’ve been trying it. Nothing has worked.
This past year has also been very difficult for me mentally. I finally gave up drinking in February, but with that came a lot of unresolved depression and anxiety. Sometimes the anxiety has been so bad that I’ve literally had to leave dinner and go home and I’ve never had depression as deep as I’ve had this year.
On top of all that, I’ve had some serious skin conditions surfacing such as psoriasis and dermatitis.
My entire life, I’ve naturally been so healthy, with hardly anything ever concerning or uncomfortable arising. All of a sudden I have lower back/hip pain, I’m anxious and depressed, and my skin is far from clear.
WHAT IS GOING ON!?
Is my body really filled with inflammation?
Will I have an easier time mentally and emotionally if I eat a cleaner diet?
Will my muscle aches go away or at least decrease?
Will my skin become clearer and healthier?
